5. Effects of virus on organism
Citrus psorosis virus
Bark Scaling (bulging and breaking) and Internal Staining
Trunk and Limbs
Form A
More passive
Restricted to main trunk
May show some spots in younger leaves
Older leaves relatively unaffected
Takes place at 10 - 15 years of age
Form B
Aggressive form
Same symptoms but also extensive bark scaling and chlorotic blotches
It can also cause leaf drop and shoot necrosis (premature death of living tissue)
Tulip Breaking Virus
Only one main symptom
Weakens the tulip plant
Allows the leaves to display a wide variety of colors
Makes them highly desired because of the mix of colors the virus causes
Tobacco Mosaic Virus
Veinbending
Necrotic symptoms
Mosaic burn
Small bulging in the leaves
Hard to detect visually for most cases
